We supply here several documents in the hope of aiding the decision making of research participants when it comes to issues around incidental findings. These documents are a product of a workshop held in Washington, DC, on October 18, 2012, involving experts in neuroimaging, ethics, and law from the NIH and the academic sector in the USA and Canada. More information about those involved in the creation of these documents is included within the last section of each PDF file.
One document contains answers to many questions which participants have frequently asked about incidental findings. The other contains information to be considered when questions around incidental findings arise, as well as three possible scenarios within which questions and concerns may arise.
